The Open 5.70 showed up in force at Cal Race Week. With 11 boats on the starting line the Open 5.70s were one of the largest one-design classes (the Star boats also showed up with 11 boats). This is the most boats the class has seen on the line since last years Pacific Coast Championship at Long Beach Race Week. There were 9 local boats and 2 boats which had traveled down from San Francisco for the premier Marina del Rey regatta.

Check out all 12 Open 5.70s racing LIVE! this weekend at Cal Race Week! All of the boats at the regatta are being tracked using Kattack LIVE! The Open 5.70 fleet showed up in force with the 2nd largest fleet in a regatta of 90+ boats! The competition is hotting up as the sailors battle for the overall one-design trophy and with the Pacific Coast Championship at the end of the month Cal Race Week is going to be a great event!! Yesterday, we had a surprise visit from Rick Peters who won the 2009 Star World Championship. Rick is a great guy, always a smile on his face and plenty of things to talk about. This year, Rick is getting more involved with the Star fleet and wants to bring some excitements during the Star events. California Yacht Club is running the Star North American Championship in August and with 30-40 boats, we can expect some good action on the water. Rick inquired about Kattack, and as the rep for this racing tracking device, we talked about the possibility to run Kattack during the Star North American this Summer.

Kattack now offers live tracking so everyone will be able to follow the race, LIVE from their home computer!Races can also be replayed later at anytime after the races.

We will keep you in the loop and see what the Star Class decides for this event.

Open Sailing was a sponsor for the SCCYC Lido Fleet 2 Invitational regatta. Jerome and Nik were also on the RC boat and mark set boat to help out during the regatta. Open Sailing also ran the Kattack Performance App for the “B” fleet – check out the races here and some photos here. Congratulations to the winner of the Lido A fleet who walked away with a brand new Velocitek Speed Puck courtesy of Open Sailing.
