USA 189 has found a new home on San Francisco Bay. The new owner Andrew marks the 11th owner on the Bay, which is only one less boat than the Southern California Fleet which currently has 12. There are already 10 boats signed up for Aprils Spring Dash out Encinal Yacht Club and more boats are expected to register soon! Looks like it’s going to be a great season for the Open 5.70 in California…

The Southern California Fleet welcomed Gary Kamins on USA 306 this weekend for their first race at the Les Storrs Regatta. USA 306 is the 12th boat in Southern California. Click through for more pictures. (more…)

The Northern California Open 5.70 fleet got their High Point Season started this weekend at the Big Daddy Regatta hosted by Richmond Yacht Club. Since the last one design event on the Bay at the end of last year the fleet has continued to grow and there are now 10 boats based in and around San Francisco.

Saturdays buoy race attracted 9 starters, making the Open 5.70 the largest one design class at the regatta. The moderate 10-15 knot breeze made the racing extremely close on a challenging course that included plenty of wind shifts and current.
