Driving back from Miami, FL back to Los Angeles, CA is pretty simple: from miami, head north. When you arrive to the I 10 freeway, turn left and go for 2200 miles. Next stop is our office/showroom in Marina Del Rey, CA !

No need for a GPS…it was great to cross so many states. I love Rest Area and sleeping in the van without Nik was actually very roomy (and not smelly)!

Jerome & I have just made it back from a 10,000 mile road trip that took them through 15 different states. In total we were away from home for 30 days. Needless to say we spent a lot of time behind the wheel of the van, eating junk food, listening to music, and sleeping in the back of the van / hotel rooms / friends guest rooms. It’s good to be back!

Sailing On Biscayne Bay

After five long days in the sun at the Miami Strictly Sail boat show it was time to go sailing! Since it was Open Sailings first time in Miami there was a lot of buzz around the Open 5.70 and Open 6.50. With one Open 5.70 sold at the show and a long line of people eager to go for a sail Open Sailing were happy to oblige. Based out of the Shake-A-Leg sailing center in Coconut Grove the Open 5.70 was on the water doing demos for 4 straight days. The conditions in Biscayne Bay were ideal – warm blue water, minimal chop, and plenty of wind! Everyone returned the dock with a huge smile on their face after an exciting downwind run where we often saw speeds of 12 knots and above. Since the boat and the bay go together so well we’re optimistic that the Open 5.70 fleet in Miami will grow quickly.

At the end of the Miami boat show the Open 5.70 made the short trip south the Shake-A-Leg sailing center where it was launched. With one boat already sold in the Miami area we have a list of people who are just itching to go out for a sail and see what all the buzz is about. The boat will be in the water and available to go sailing from the 18th to the 21st. To schedule an appointment feel free to contact us. Saturday night was the Mami Boat Show Exhibitor Party. Open Sailing were fortunate enough to be located right next to the festivities. To capatilize on this we had a large screen projector showing movies of the Open 5.70 and as soon as the wind died we put up the sails on both boats… It turned out to be quite a fun (and productive) night!!

Today was the first day of the Miami Boat Show. Open exlusively to VIP guests the crowds were light but there were more than enough people to keep us busy. Our booth is starting to take shape and although most of the major work was done yesterday there were still some last minute adjustments today.

In the past we’ve heard a lot of people say “if there were a fleet then maybe…” so to address this we have a MIAMI FLEET SIGNUP SHEET where all the people who are interested in the Open 5.70 fill out their name, e-mail and zip code so that after the show we can help connect people and get a fleet going in Miami.

We are also signing people up for demo rides next week (February 17th – 22nd). We ask that those people who are interested pay a $50 deposit that is refundable when they show up for their demo. Our goal is to take as many people out sailing on the Open 5.70 during our time here and we can’t afford to be stood up!!
