The Vendee Globe is probably the worlds most famous round the world race. The challenge is to sail around the world single-handed without any stopovers. There are very few boats and even fewer sailors that are capable of completing this race.

The Open 5.70: The ideal club boat

Fleet Racing Downwind

The recent sportboat demo day at Stonington Harbor Yacht Club was a great success. It not only introduced the latest generation of sportboats to it’s members and friends, it opened everyone’s eyes to the future of sailing. The venue was ideal – a long empty dock and quick uncluttered path to the harbor’s outer breakwater. Fortunately for everyone involved, the weather also cooperated. There were partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the 60s and a consistent breeze in the high teens. All of these factors created a very unique and rare opportunity for all the sailors involved.
